This is for women who wear panties to sleep

*Physicians say the female geni-tal needs to ‘breathe’ in order to maintain its pH balance and prevent fungi and odour. So, going to bed without your p*nts on will aerate your nether region.
*Family Physician, Dr. Grace Obong, says during the day, women wear a variety of panties and tight outfits that hardly allow their privates to breathe. She says though it’s advisable and absolutely preferable to wear cotton panties, many women still opt for polyester panties, with the attendant heating up of the geni-tal area while the day lasts.
*For those who may not like to go to sleep without having p*nts on, Obong recommends wearing of boxers or pyjamas.
*Experts at women’s health say the vag-ina normally has a balance of mostly “good” bacteria and fewer “harmful” bacteria. However, a condition called bacterial vagi-nosis, develops when the balance changes. This may lead to abnormal vagi-nal discharge with an unpleasant odour, while some women may complain of a strong fish-like odour, especially after s*x.
*Other symptoms may include burning when urinating, itching around the outside of the vag-ina, and irritation; while some women with bacterial vagi-nosis have no symptoms at all,” Obong adds.
*Wearing panties to bed can lead to too much moist in the female geni-tal area, and this can lead to vagi-nal yeast infection, most commonly due to the fungus Candida albicans.

*Again, Certified S*xuality Counselor, Evelyn Resh, says, “I do not recommend that women wear underwear to bed. Taking a break from underwear for the eight or so hours that you’re asleep gives you an opportunity to ‘air-out’ down there! Best to have an underwear-free zone while sleeping.”
*And while yeast infection is not a s*xually transmitted illness, physicians say some men will develop symptoms such as itching and a rash on the p*nis after having s*xual contact with an infected woman.

How to keep your body from getting dry this harmattan

With Harmattan comes dry and lacklustre skin that easily comes off as dehydrated. See how to keep the skin in top shape
There are ways to ensure the skin stays in top shape around this period especially with easy DIYs that involve foods found in the pantry.
1. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil works well on the skin during harmattan because its easily absorbed. It also has protein and vitamin E that work to keep moisture locked in the skin.
Directions:
1. Apply coconut oil on the body after taking a shower, working the oil on damp skin helps glide on smoothly as well as makes it easy to absorb.
2. Throw some coconut into the microwave to warm up for a few seconds, apply this to the skin in gentle circular motions and allow sit for 15 minutes before taking a shower. This helps the skin retain moisture and won’t allow it dry out.
2. Olive Oil
Olive oil is yet another anti oxidant packed non-comedogenic option for the skin during the dry season and works brilliant as a nourishing moisturizer.

These are guidelines that show if a food is high or low in fat, trans-fat, salt or sugar:

These are guidelines that show if a food is high or low in fat, trans-fat, salt or sugar:

Total fat
High: more than 17.5g of fat per 100g ; Low: 3g of fat or less per 100g

Trans-fat
High: more than 5g of trans-fat per 100g ; Low: 1.5g of trans-fat or less per 100g

Sugars
High: more than 22.5g of total sugars per 100g ; Low: 5g of total sugars or less per 100g
Salt
High: more than 1.5g of salt per 100g (or 0.6g sodium) ; Low: 0.3g of salt or less per 100g (or 0.1g sodium)

For example, if you are trying to cut down on trans- fat, try to limit the amount of foods you eat that have more than 5g of saturated fat per 100g.
The best way to approach a healthy, balanced diet is as simple as swapping processed foods for whole foods. The body runs most efficiently on food that is in its natural form, or very close to it. Processed foods means the body has to work harder to do its job. People have thrived on vegetables, meat, eggs, fruits and other whole foods for centuries, while processed foods are a new phenomenon. If we make the body’s job easier, it will make our lives easier.

How the food you eat affects your sleep

A registered Abuja-based dietician, Mrs Chioma Mmiriukwu, says the quality of food eaten by an individual determines how soundly he or she sleeps.
Mmiriukwu said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday.
She said that the composition of a diet impacted on the quality of sleep an individual had as well as his/her health generally.
According to her, poor quality sleep could lead to diabetes and high blood pressure.
“It is known that poor sleep quality can lead to health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
“Just as foods can impact on health and other areas, it can also contribute to good or bad sleep.
“To improve our chances of quality sleep, proteinous foods like eggs should be eaten four hours before bedtime,” she said.
The dietician also said that healthy fats such as avocado, coconut oil, lean meats and high antioxidant foods could enhance production of sleep hormone.
According to her, vegetables and high nutrient fruits can detoxify high alkalinity which impedes sleep.
Mmiriukwu added that sugary foods, simple foods and processed carbohydrates should be avoided at night because they could impede quality sleep.
She said that a recent study by Purdue University, Indiana, USA, found out that people who were losing weight through a high protein diet slept well.
The expert said the study proved that middle-aged adults who had a low-calorie, high-protein diet were not only able to better manage their weight, but had higher sleep quality as well.
The dietician said the study also found that sleep and proper diet were important modifiers of health and wellness, which had a positive effect on overall health.

See the amount Chinese club offered to buy C Ronaldo

A Chinese club has decided to break the bank to secure the signature of the current best player in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo with an irresistible offer.
Real Madrid were offered about £250 million (about N125 billion) by an unnamed Chinese club for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to the Portuguese player’s agent Jorge Mendes.
He however said the 31-year-old forward had no interest in the deal, which included an £85m (about N42bn) annual salary.
“From China, they’ve offered 300m euros (£257m) to Real Madrid and more than 100m euros per year to the player.
“But money is not everything. The Spanish club [Real] is his life.’’
The revelation comes after Carlos Tevez was reportedly made the world’s highest-paid footballer by Shanghai Shenua.
Shanghai, coached by ex-Brighton boss Gus Poyet, are reported to have agreed a deal worth £40m (about N20bn) for Tevez, including a salary in excess of £310,000 (about N155m) a week.
Under the offer claimed by Mendes, Ronaldo would have earned £1.6m (about N800m) a week.
It would have been a deal worth almost treble the world record transfer fee of £89m paid by Manchester United to Juventus for midfielder Paul Pogba.
“The Chinese market is a new market. They can buy a lot of players, but then again it is impossible to go for Ronaldo.
“Cristiano is the best player in the world and best ever. It is normal to have some offers,”
said Mendes.
The Portugal captain said he could play for another 10 years after signing a new deal, which ties him to Madrid until June 2021, last month.

You need to know this!!! what to look out for before buying groceries.

For years, health advocates have urged the public to read the ingredients and ignore the marketing. For years, consumers have ignored the health advocates.
But lo! It looks as if they’re finally listening.
Food purchases are less driven these days by what’s written on the front of the box than what’s listed as ingredients, said Andrew Mandzy, director of strategic insights at Nielsen. Some consumers aren’t even reading so much as they are counting: About 61 percent said that the shorter the ingredients’ list, the healthier the product. Many are looking beyond the boxes themselves. In 2014, 48 percent of consumers went online for health information. In 2016, 68 percent did. Use of technology such as calorie-tracking apps is also up, Mandzy said.
“There’s a shift in how people are thinking about ‘better for you,'” he said. “People are looking for back-to-basics, simpler ingredients.”
Health professionals are happy to see the shift. “The overall trend of a more-educated consumer is excellent,” said Sharon Allison-Ottey, doctor, health educator, and author of Is That Fried Chicken Worth It? “Just being aware of what you’re eating leads you to eating less.”
Front-of-package claims such as “low-fat” and “excellent source of vitamin C” are starting to lose their magical powers, Nielsen data show. Sales of items marked for their lower fat content are down 1.2 percent in dollar value over the past five years. For “fat-free,” sales are down 2.7 percent. Items marked for their “vitamins and minerals” have seen a 0.8 percent decline in that period.
One claim, at least, seems to still work: “natural,” an essentially unregulated and therefore, meaningless term. So-called natural foods have included chicken nuggets, Cheetos, and Gatorade. Sales for products bearing the label are up 4.2 percent.
But Nielsen also created a separate category with its own, narrower criteria. For that category, the market researchers took a closer look at ingredients, store placement (for example, is it in the “Natural” aisle?), and the rest of the brand. Anything USDA-certified organic, for example, was in, and anything with genetically modified organisms or artificial or synthetic ingredients was out. The growth in that narrower category was nearly triple the growth in the broader one, at 11.2 percent.
As consumers pay closer attention to ingredients, they may be getting a little too zealous, avoiding some that are largely harmless. Sales of products blaring that they are gluten-free are up 11.8 percent over the past five years, and soy-free sales are up 29.8 percent. But health professionals don’t recommend that average Americans make a point of cutting out either of these ingredients.
Unless you are diagnosed with celiac disease or gluten intolerance, “‘gluten-free’ has nothing to do with the actual health benefits of the food,” Allison-Ottey said. While she hopes that attention to gluten translates into more-conscious eating overall, that’s not guaranteed. “Can a manufacturer take advantage of a consumer by slapping ‘gluten-free’ on a food that never had it? Yes,” she said.
As for soy, unless you have breast cancer, in which case soy’s estrogen content is a concern, you don’t need to avoid it, Allison-Ottey said. “In an average diet, you wouldn’t have to worry about too much soy,” she said. “You’re not going to over-indulge.”
Food manufacturers are giving customers what they want. “The trend is towards products that have more ‘free from’ labels on them than a NASCAR driver has auto parts endorsements on his jacket,” a Packaged Facts market research report from April said. Gluten-free and soy-free are just the beginning. No artificial ingredients, no trans fats, no high-fructose corn syrup, and no GMOs are also popular.
Of course, not all of it is hype. Artificial trans fats are so unhealthy that the Food and Drug Administration is requiring manufacturers to remove partially hydrogenated oils, the main source of them, from foods by June 2018. High-fructose corn syrup, like all sugar, can contribute to weight gain, diabetes, and other chronic diseases.
Among the very healthiest foods are those that have no labels at all: fresh fruits and vegetables. Consumers seem to be learning this lesson, too. Growth in sales of items from the perimeter of the supermarket is outpacing those from the center of the store, Mandzy said.
“The fresher the product, typically, the better the product,” Allison-Ottey said. “As close to the ground as you can get.”
